Description

Spa, Jacuzzi, Hot Tub Thermostat

The Jacuzzi Thermostat also sometimes referred to as a “Curly” Thermostat, because of the curly probe attached to it, this Thermostat can be set to various temperatures.

Sometimes installers use a Geyser thermostat to save costs, but don’t realize that they could be costing the end user Thousands of rands because of their incompetence.

The reason I say this is because the Geyser thermostat can be set up to 70 degrees and you should never heat the water above 45 degrees in a Jacuzzi.

If you should heat the water past 45 degrees the Jacuzzi shell will start to delaminate.

A spa thermostat is a device used to regulate and control the temperature of the water in a spa or hot tub. It is an essential component of the spa’s heating system. Here’s some information about spa thermostats:

Function: The main function of a spa thermostat is to monitor and maintain the desired water temperature in the spa. It measures the current temperature of the water and sends signals to the heating element to adjust its operation accordingly.

Temperature Control: The thermostat allows users to set and control the desired water temperature. It typically includes a control panel or interface where users can input their preferred temperature settings. Once set, the thermostat continuously compares the actual water temperature to the desired temperature and activates or deactivates the heating system as needed to maintain the set temperature.

Temperature Sensing: Spa thermostats use temperature sensors to measure the water temperature accurately. These sensors can be located in various parts of the spa, such as near the heater or within the plumbing system. The sensors relay temperature information to the thermostat for processing and control.

Safety Features: Many spa thermostats incorporate safety features to protect against overheating. These features may include high-limit temperature sensors or thermal cut-off switches that shut off the heating system if the water temperature exceeds a certain threshold.

Compatibility: Spa thermostats are designed to work with specific spa or hot tub models. When replacing a thermostat, it’s crucial to ensure compatibility with the existing spa system. It’s recommended to consult the spa manufacturer or a qualified technician to ensure the correct replacement thermostat is selected.

Maintenance: Regular maintenance of the spa thermostat is important to ensure its proper functioning. This may include cleaning the temperature sensors, checking the wiring connections, and verifying that the thermostat is calibrated correctly. If any issues arise, it is advisable to consult a professional for troubleshooting and repairs.

Overall, a spa thermostat plays a vital role in maintaining the desired water temperature for a comfortable and enjoyable spa experience. It allows users to customize their spa’s temperature settings while providing safety measures to prevent overheating.

Something important to remember!!

When Draining your Jacuzzi, please make sure that the heating system is turned off. If not, this might result in your heater casing burning and you might set the Jacuzzi alight.

One thing people never tell you about “Curly” thermostats is that, if your temperature is set to 30 degrees and you want to turn it to 40 degrees, you have to turn the dial back to zero before you turn it up to 40 degrees, as this resets the thermostat.

JUST REMEMBER: PUTTING THE THERMOSTAT ON 50 DEGREES IS NOT GOING TO HEAT THE JACUZZI QUICKER, THE HEATING ELEMENT WILL JUST STAY ON LONGER!!
